D.O.C. Grignolino
The elegance of the tannins wrapped in a shining ruby color, the art of Monferrato in every shade.
The name “Fiammenga” comes from Pietro Jescot, a fascinating and cultured figure, a cloth merchant from Flanders who opened the doors of his farmhouse to local artists of the time.
In Monferrato, Pietro Jescot made his fortune. Now he owns a beautiful estate near Penango: it’s called ‘La Cascina Fiammenga,’ and he’s proud of it.
The history of Tenuta Fiammenga is characterized by charm and culture, with a deep connection to Flemish artists who, between the 1500s and 1600s, found inspiration and friendship on the estate.
On December 4, 1596, Theodora Caccia, daughter of the painter Guglielmo Caccia, has been baptized and her Godfather was Pietro Tescotto, a mistaken transcription for Pietro Jescot, who at that time was the owner of the estate.
100% Grignolino.
- Destemming without crushing the berries.
- Cold maceration for 24 hours, fermentation with pumping over, maceration for 12 days.
- Aging for 6 months in French oak barrels.
Grignolino Jescot, a masterpiece by Paolo Sartirano, reveals itself in color with an intense ruby, capturing the light like a sunset over the hills of Monferrato.
On the nose, ripe red fruit and floral notes with spicy hints, reminding of the terroir’s fragrance. The skins, enhanced by prolonged macerations, give the wine a deep aromatic complexity.
On the palate, the velvety and elegant tannins are supported by a well-defined structure. The grapes, enhanced by careful vinification, have a pleasant softness and a harmonious balance.
The taste evolves with a persistence that tells stories of soil, sun, and passion, leaving a lingering aftertaste that invites to immerse oneself again and again in the richness of Monferrato.
